GENERAL INFORMATION

Tires and rims (on disk wheels) are important elements of a design of the car.

Installation and repair of tires demands the special tool and professional skills. Professionals should carry out these works only.

For safety reasons movements, it is necessary to change whenever possible tires not separately, and, at least, on axes. Less worn-out tires should be put always on forward wheels.

On all four wheels it is necessary to have only radial tires of the same design, the identical size (with identical length of a circle) and whenever possible identical execution of a profile of the tire.

In the presence of drawing of the protector defining the direction of rotation of tires, on a lateral surface of the tire there are shooters indexes.

In this case it is necessary to observe the direction of rotation of the tire strictly. Optimum road performance of the tire, its coupling with a wet paving are thus provided and wear and the noise created by the tire decrease. If at replacement of the punched wheel the tire with rotation against set temporarily is established, its use in this mode should be short-term.

On the all-wheel drive car, besides, all tires should be identical model of the same manufacturer.

Otherwise the visko-coupling because of an arising difference in frequency of rotation of wheels of both axes it is undesirable will lift the share of draft falling on a back axis. It can lead to breakage.

Various depth of drawing of a protector of tires of lobbies and back wheels, for example, as a result of wear, is not so important. However it is recommended to establish tires with bigger depth of drawing of a protector on forward wheels if tires of forward wheels are worn-out more than tires of back wheels, they have smaller length of a circle and rotate, therefore quicker. Therefore there is additional tension in transmission, and tires wear out quicker.

If the tire of a spare wheel on the execution differs from other tires of the car (for example, winter or wide-profile), such spare wheel should be used only quickly in case of failure of one of tires of the car and at the corresponding increased care of driving. Instead of such wheel it is necessary to establish a former wheel again as soon as possible.

Never put on the car the second-hand tire if it is not known, where and as it worked before.

The knowledge of marking of tires helps at their choice.

Radial tires have on боковине tires the following marking, for example, 195/65 R 15 91 T, where:

195= width of a profile of the tire, mm;
65= relation of height of the tire to width of a profile, %;
R= an arrangement of threads of a cord of a framework – an alphabetic reference for the radial tire;
15= diameter of a rim of a disk, inch;
91= index of admissible loading capacity;
T = index of speed.

The date of issue is specified also on боковине tires (in some cases only on an internal surface of the tire) – DOT CUL UM8–507 TUBELESS, where:

DOT – the manufacturer;
CU – code designation of the manufacturer;
L2 – the size of the tire;
UM8 – tire type;
507-manufacturing date (the 50th week 1997);
TUBELESS – the tubeless tire (TUBETYPE – chamber).

Designation of rims 6J x 15 is deciphered as follows:

6J – width of a disk in inches;
J–height of an onboard edge of a disk;
x – a deep disk;
15-landing diameter of a disk in inches.
